A Journey and a Marriage in MomentsJanuary 13, 2012 is the beginning of our story together, though how we got to where we are today begins much earlier than that. As we reflected on how we should get married after these many years together, we recalled so many stations in our life, seared into our memory to mark transitions and growth and to remind us of our how our own story came to be. Somehow, one day or one event didn’t seem capable of capturing that story and those moments—and the grandeur of one celebration didn’t seem to do justice to a lifetime more on this journey.
October 13th marks 6.75 years, or 81 months, or 4,439 days—about a quarter of our young lives spent together. We’ve decided to share moments of those years, months, and days to bring you a little bit into the journey and process we’ve undergone as we grew up together: from naive 16- and 17-year-olds to (arguably still naive) nearly 23- and 24-year olds. Each moment is a testament to insistence, to growth, and to commitment beyond our own capabilities, and these moments remind us and solidify in us that we were once wandering in a field and, unknown to us at the time, were slowly brought to home in each other to be redeemed and renewed. While most people think an adventure begins by leaving home, ours began on a journey to find it. We have found home in each other and in the Lord. Please enjoy these moments with us in this continuing adventure that is our marriage, our life, and our serving. We do not ask for anything but your engagement with us and our story this week, so please feel free to write comments, e-mails, or letters if you have the inspiration. In gratitude, Sam & Logan |
